Naddine Madell is an independent multi-faceted filmmaker based in Calgary, Alberta. She holds degrees in English Literature and Communications and always intended on becoming a poet.
After taking an acting class, she got involved with CJSW 90.9 FM, Calgary’s Campus Radio Station, where she created, wrote, produced and hosted the Spooning & Forking radio program (2011-2013), which, at the time, was available on iTunes and syndicated in Lethbridge, Winnipeg and Victoria. She made moved into film with her first producing project, Computer Potato (2013) as Associate Producer. Realizing she had a knack for producing, Consolation Prize (2014) came next, followed by Who is Riley Oakes? (2015). Subsequently, she produced several projects, including a short documentary, Living Positive; narrative shorts, The Prize, Weeds in the Garden and Burned (as Associate Producer & Unit Production Manager); and she also served as the 2nd AD on the feature production of ICE BLUE (2017) and HUDSON (2019) an online series offshoot of the wildly popular Heartland.
Naddine is currently in post-production on a travel intensive, feature-length documentary, as of yet, untitled; she is in the development staget of producing and directing another feature-length documentary, Femme Wave; and is writing several other projects. Moving into directing, Naddine directed the pilot episode of The Parent Council, and two episodes of a yet-to-be released web series called ageLESS.
As an actor, you can catch her in the first season pilot of the Syfy series, Wynonna Earp, the music video for the local band The Static Shift (alum of CTV’s The Launch) for their song ‘O, Captain, My Captain!‘ and a handful of independent film projects including the Telus Storyhive Web Series pilot, Faultline.
In addition to her film work, Naddine has been involved with many arts organizations over the years, such as writing for Beatroute Magazine, as a programmer at CJSW 90.9 FM, Media and Publicity Manager at Calgary Folk Music Festival, Juror – Prism Prize, Volunteer Organization Committee Member – JUNO AWARDS (Calgary, 2016), Board of Directors – Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers (CSIF), Artist Care Coordinator – Femme Wave and as a Committee Member for Herland.
